PRIVACY POLICY
Your time
stays yours.
tally is designed to work locally first. Online services are optional, visible, and limited to the sync or spreadsheet features you choose.
Effective August 29, 2026
What tally handles
tally stores the activities you enter, their dates and times, project names, project metadata such as hashtags, and the settings needed to make the app work.
Your timeline is local-first. You can use tally without creating an account, and data you keep in local-only mode stays on your device.
Private iCloud sync
If you enable iCloud, tally syncs your timeline through your private CloudKit database. That data belongs to your Apple account, counts toward your iCloud storage, and is not visible to Great Ordinary in the CloudKit developer console.
Apple operates iCloud under its own terms and privacy policy. You can use tally without iCloud by choosing local-only storage.
Optional Google Sheets
Google Sheets is optional. If you connect it, tally receives your Google account email address and account identifier so it can show which account is connected and authorize the feature.
tally requests Google Drive's drive.file permission. This lets tally create files and open only the spreadsheet you explicitly choose with Google's picker; it does not grant access to your entire Drive.
When you import, export, or keep a Sheets backup, the activity data involved is sent directly between tally and Google. Great Ordinary does not operate an intermediary timeline server and does not use Google data for advertising, analytics, or profiling.
How Google data is used
Google account information is used only to provide the Google Sheets features you choose. Google user data is not sold, shared with data brokers, used for advertising, or read by people at Great Ordinary.
tally's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Tracking and diagnostics
tally does not include advertising, third-party analytics, cross-app tracking, or data brokers. The app does not request the advertising identifier.
Apple may process limited operational information through App Store and iCloud services under your Apple settings and Apple's privacy terms.
Your choices and deletion
You can disconnect Google from tally at any time. You can also revoke tally's access from your Google Account. Existing spreadsheets remain in your Drive until you delete them there.
Settings includes an option to erase tally's local and private iCloud timeline. Deleting the app removes its local data, subject to normal device backups. Removing data from Google Drive or iCloud is governed by those services and your account settings.
Questions and changes
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to operator@greatordinary.com.
We may update this policy when tally changes. The current version and effective date will remain on this page.
